To stand outside, twice my age,
and smoke a cigarette as I walk by.

I must look different than I feel inside.
My long hair must look like a symbol of rebellion (instead of laziness).
My tight shirt and baggy pants, a symbol of class
(and not my forgetting to do the laundry).

Love from the Void

I lost an entire notebook's worth of writings when it got drenched in water. This is the only poem entry that remains.

Yet from this void I still find love.
The simple joy of petting my dog,
The morning kiss goodbye as she leaves for work.
The unconditional support of Mom and Dad.
The goofy laughter shared with her.
These things, the only reasons to smile
and continue living this pointless life.
